Registration as a Beekeeper
In Queensland, owners of one or more bee hives must register as a biosecurity entity. If an exotic bee pest or disease is detected, this registration system allows for prompt traceability actions to find and destroy the exotic bee pest or disease before it spreads and creates damage to other hives and beekeeping in Australia.
* Small Fee – if you claim primary producer status on your tax return.
* No Fee – if you keep bees only for non-commercial purposes (however registration is still a requirement)
